FEBRUARY 2016

On the 9th, I took Talen in to get x-rays on his spine (for curvature) and his hand (for growth plate check).  On the 10th,  we had Talen's appointment with Dr. Murray (endocrinologist).  She said that his growth plates show that he is at the age of an 11 year old (he is only 9), so the estrogen that we are giving him is working.  However, we would really like to speed up the process.  So, after lots of discussion, we decided to double his estrogen and re-scan his hand in 4 months.  After we get the results from the scan, we will re-evaluate his medicine dosage.  Then we hope to be able to start weening him off the estrogen in September/October after his growth plates have closed (fingers crossed).  This is all really unknown, so we are kind of going blind into this whole thing, but I feel that we are making the best choice we can for a better future for Talen.  We are praying that we are doing the right thing!!
For Young Women's this month, Kennedy was able to go to do Baptisms for the Dead for her first time.  I am so glad that I'm in Young Women's again so that I can watch her experience these new phases of her life.  She had a blast and keeps asking when we can go back and do it again.
On the 28th, we drove down to Las Vegas to go to my cousin's son's (Bryce Graham) farewell.  It was a quick trip, but nice to visit family that we don't get to see very often.
The only other thing that happened this month was that I finished my 8 week yoga challenge.  It was super fun and I have found that I really enjoy yoga (but only if it's hot yoga).  Over the 8 weeks, I only lost 2 pounds, but my fat percentage went down 3% and my BMI went from 22.1 to 21.8.  Not too bad!!  I'd really like to keep going, but it is so stinking expensive!!  Oh well, I have to start training for another century soon, so no time for yoga anyway.

Airport Museum

Who knew that St. George had an airport museum??  Since Brooke does home school for her kids, she is always looking for "field trips" to go on - so we tagged along today.  The kids loved looking at all the old airplanes.  But I think they spent more time at the end trying to decide which toy they wanted than we spent walking through all the other stuff.  It was a fun, educational time out of the house - loved it!!  Thanks Brooke!

Valentine's

For Valentine's this year, I only had one kid in school that needed a Valentine's box.  Kennedy originally told me that she wanted to do it for Talen, but the day before I needed to have it at the school, she backed out.  So, I quickly pulled this together.  I was quite proud of myself.  What a cute little tootsie roll for my cute little tootsie!

Walk with the Seely's

On Saturday, we decided to meet up with Brooke's family to go on a little family walk.  We went over to the new soccer park by our house and went down the bike path behind it.  It sure seemed to go on for forever!  The kids love riding their bikes and chatting with their cousins.  Even Talen had a good time being out in the fresh air!  We definitely need to get out and do this more often!!  Plus it wore out the kids so hopefully they will sleep really good tonight!!

Super Bowl 2016 Denver vs. Carolina

WAHOO!!  Denver made it to the Superbowl and they WON!!  I don't think Jay was as excited as the kids and I were, but I'm not surprised when his team had such a poor season hehehe!!  The kids got dressed up in their Bronco gear, I made yummies to munch on, and we invited the Adams's over to celebrate.  We even awarded prizes to the winners of each quarter on our little number-board game.  Surprise, surprise, the big winner was Carter!!!  Good thing he is so nice and shared his winnings (candy) with the rest of us.  Yay Denver Broncos, let's repeat this again next year!! (Dax didn't win anything, but when he saw me taking pictures of Carter pointing to his winning square, he wanted his photo taken too!  What a goofball!)

Daxton's First Bloody Nose

Can someone please remind Jay that Daxton is only 4 and there is no need to get so intense when practicing baseball?!?! Hahaha, they were outside tossing the ball back and forth when, apparently, it bounced on the ground and came back up to hit Dax right in the nose.  There were only a couple tears and as soon as the sting stopped, Dax was asking to go out and play again!

Talen got on the Writer's Wall of Fame

When Pat brought home Talen's writing assignment, I had no idea it would end up on the Writers Wall of Fame!  It says that the "future" leader he wants to be is a really good friend, but there is no question that he is already that!! Isn't Talen such a cutie pie!!
