August started with us getting a brand new nephew. Ian Alexander Shepherd was born on the 13th, only 8 days late!! Already a little stinker . . . good thing he is cute!! On the 20th we took Daxton in for his yearly doctor's appointment (yep we were late too, only by 4 months though, hehehe) Dr. Thompson said Dax looked great and since he was all caught up on his shots, it was a pretty easy visit. He is topping the scales at 35 pounds 8 ounces, only 8 ounces away from Talen!! On the 26th, Talen saw Dr. Such-Neibar for a follow-up. The last time we saw her, she started Talen on the Clonazepam. So, I gave her the update on his hospital visit, our adjustment of the medication, and how everything is going in general. She was thrilled to hear that the meds are working great for him. I also talked to her about inducing puberty. If we decided to induce puberty early on Talen, it will help to keep his body smaller so that he will be more manageable as he gets older. But after hearing that it would mean daily injections for at least one year, possibly two, we are re-thinking it. However, he still has a little while before we need to decided anything, so that's good!

Pool Therapy
We kept seeing pictures of Talen's friends in pool therapy, so I decided to call and see if it was something that would be beneficial for Talen. Today was his first session and he LOVED it!!! I think the expression on his face says it all!!

Dax starts preschool
After several weeks of phone calls and pestering, we finally got the word that Daxton got into preschool at Riverside, the same preschool that Talen went to! The only bad part is that he is in the mid-morning session so he goes from 11:10 am- 1:10 pm. That means that I am walking back and forth from the schools four times a day!! Oh well, I could use the exercise! Anyway, today was the first day and Daxton was thrilled!! Little stinker wouldn't just smile for a picture; he thinks he needs to "goofy" pose every time the camera is aimed at him. I'm just glad that he smiled normal when I took the picture of him with his teacher, Miss Torie.

First day of School
It's time to start school again!! Kennedy is going into the 5th grade.
Last year, her teacher, Mrs. Aldred, decided to move from 4th to 5th
grade and she asked the principal if she could keep her same class. So
they sent home a note and if we signed it our kids would be placed in
her class again. Kennedy really liked her so we let her stay. So,
again, she has Mrs. Aldred. Talen is going into 2nd grade and he has
Mrs. Decker for his normal class and Ms. Katie for his special needs
class. I didn't make it down to Mrs. Decker's class room, so we only
have a picture of him with Ms. Katie. Looks like it's gonna be a fun
year for my kiddos!!
