FEBRUARY 2017

This month mainly consisted of running around.  Daxton had baseball practice, baseball games, basket ball practice, and basektball games.  Kennedy had volleyball practice, basketball practice, basket ball games, and piano.  Talen had massages with Amber, baths with Holly, and an ortho appointment with Dr. Heflin.  He said all looked well and he wasn't too worried about anything changing much so he scheduled us to see him again in a year.  Daxton had his SEP and he is doing great!  He is such a smart boy!  My kids sure keep me busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

When Life Gets Hard Conference

About 6 months ago, I bought some Hank Smith CD's for Kennedy to listen to.  We've listened to them every time we travel and she has really loved them.  So when I saw that Hank would be coming to St. George to talk at a conference with John Bytheway and Meg Johnson, we bought some tickets.  I even convinced Brooke (and Hailey), Robin, and Talia to buy tickets.  A couple days ago Talia found out that her family would be coming down so she sold her tickets to Brooke's sister-in-law Kayla and we took one for Kennedy's friend, Charity.  Robin drove down Friday night and spend the night at our house.  We got there early (or so we thought) and found our seats.  John Bytheway was good but he was a little more "adult" than I think the girls were wanting.  He spoke about worrying and how to learn to have hope.  I had never heard of Meg Johnson before, but she was great.  At age 22, she was in an accident and became a parpalegic.  She spoke about her accident and about how service got her through.  I really liked her story and was impressed with what a positive attitude she had about life. The two quotes that stood out to me from her talk were: A person starts to live when he can live outside himself by Albert Einstein.  I am not sure who said the second, but it was "I can live two months on a good compliment."  This one stood out to me the most because it is so true!  I am going to try to give compliments more often.  What a simple way to brighten someones day that only takes a few seconds of my time.  The final speaker was Hank.  He did not disappoint!  It was hilarious as expected and the girls said they had a great time.  Afterwards, we decided to wait around to get pictures with the speakers.  What a fun experience for the girls!  And Hank even (sort of) remembered me.  He remembered that we were in the married college ward together and that I was the Relief Society President, but I had to tell him my name.  I would totally recommend this conference (or any other that includes any of these 3 speakers)!  What a fun way to spend our Saturday!

Valentines

I've never been real big on Valentine's Day.  I don't know, I think it's kinda silly because if you love someone, you shouldn't wait for the "designated" day to tell them, you should tell them all the time.  But, I'm not going to complain when I receieved love notes, yummy chocolate, and beautiful flowers like this!!  Maybe I change my mind, I want Valentine's Day once a month - at least!!

Kennedy Choir Performance

Kennedy had her choir performance.  We opted to leave the boys home while Jay and I went to the watch the concert.  She did great, of course!  She even had a one line solo in the song, "Happy". Good Job KiKi!!  Look at that cute singer!!

Kennedy's First SUVA Tournament

Kennedy's first SUVA tournament was in Las Vegas.  We had originally planned on taking the whole family down and staying with Jay's mom, but when we found out the the tournament didn't start until 3 o'clock, we decided it'd be best for just Kennedy and I to drive down and back the same day.  The first two games were a little disappointing.  Jay's mom came to watch after the first game so we were able to sit and visit for the next couple games while we waited for Kennedy's third and final game.  The third game was AWESOME! Kennedy wasn't in the first match and they won 25-23.  Kennedy was in the second match and they got pretty behind at the first.  But after lots of good passes and serves they caught up.  It was such a good match, but they ended up losing 23-25.  The coach put back in the same team that won the first match for the third match and we got creamed.  I don't even remember the final score, but it was probably around 6-15.  Kennedy took the loss a little hard, but I was so proud of how well she played.  I even had one of the other mom's tell me that she thought that #31 was probably our best player (yep, KiKi is #31.)  After the games, Jay's mom took us out for dinner at Raising Kane's and then we headed home.  I was so impressed at how well our girls finally came together.  Kennedy has such a good group of girls to play with and I am so glad that she loves the sport.  Can't wait for the next tourney!!

Watching TV together

I hate that my kids are so addicted to the tv.  But . . . if they will watch it like this (next to Talen), it doesn't seem to bother me as much!!  Daxton sure loves his big brother!! 

Holding Hands

These aren't the best pictures because they were taken with my phone (which had kinda a crappy camera).  Anyway, I just love how much they love each other.  I love to catch them being nice and holding hands.  I am so glad they have each other - nothing could make me happier!!

Dax 100 days of school

What do you do when you hit the 100th day of the school year?  Well you dress up like you are 100 years old, of course!!  I thought Dax looked so cute.  We even spray painted his hair silver, but you can't really tell in the pictures.  He was so silly, walking around with a little limp and talking like he was an old man.  This is definitely the cutest 100 year old I have ever seen!!  The other kindergarters  and Old Mrs Wittwer did a good job of dressing up too!!
