AUGUST 2015

August was pretty uneventful except for school starting and a couple trips to the doctor.  On the 4th, Carter poked Jay in the eye so he had to go into the eye doctor to get it fixed.  Carter actually got him pretty good, but thankfully it healed quickly and Jay was back to life as normal after a couple days.  On the 19th, I took the boys into the doctor for their 2 and 4 year old checkups (Yes, I was a little late!).  Daxton is 36 lbs. 9 oz and 40.5 inches tall.  Carter is 29 lbs. 6 oz and 34.25 inches tall.  I didn't get their charts, so I'm not sure what percentile they are in, but Dr. Thompson said that everything was looking good.  And it was all good until it was time for the flu shots anyway!  I had Carter go first so that he didn't know what was coming.  He cried a little bit, but got over it pretty fast.  We had decided to do Daxton's school shots (2) along with the flu shot.  He was NOT happy.  It took me, Kennedy, and the nurse holding him down before he would let them give him the shots!  And he screamed the entire time!! Afterwards they got suckers and stickers so that made it all better.  On the way home, Daxton says, "it didn't really hurt that bad."  So I asked him why he was screaming then.  He replied, "I was just kidding, it was a joke!"  Haha, some joke!  What a goofball!  This picture was before the shots, they didn't know what was coming! 

The only other thing that happened this month was that on the 20th, we officially started Talen on estrogen.  Let's just hope and pray that it all works according to plan with very little side effects!  We are keeping our fingers crossed!!

New Cement

For the last couple weeks, I have been moving dirt in our backyard so that we would be able to have a cement pad poured.  Well, it finally happened today.  They came at the crack of dawn and worked until it was finished.  We were even able to let the boys put their handprints in it.  (We would have done Kennedy and Talen's too, but they were at school.)  I'm loving the cement and so are the kids.  We can finally have the bikes and wiggly cars racing around outside and not in the house!! Yay!!

Dax & Ben

Daxton is at that age where he just loves playing with friends.  I am just glad that his best friend, Ben Colvin, is the son of our good friends.  Look at them holding hands, what cute boys!!

Carter's Haircut

I've always hated cutting off the beautiful curls that my boys have, but when I don't, people think they are girls.  So it was time for another cut!  He's handsome without, but I still love those curls!! Before and after shots!

First Day of School - Talen 3rd grade

We thought we were all ready for school to start for Talen until two and a half weeks ago!  We had heard that his special needs teacher had decided to move!  We were a little nervous, but figured things would still work out.  Then a week after that, Talen's aide (Lisa) got another job!  Now we were really nervous!  If we had one of either of these ladies, I knew that all would be fine, but with them both leaving (and right before school started) left us in a little bit of a bind to say the least.  I didn't just want the Principal to hire the first person that came along, I wanted a really good, loving person!  So I gave him a call.  He said he was looking, but he was not going to hire just anyone, he would make sure they were good for the position and the kids.  A couple days after that, he called me.  To make a long story short, he told me about meeting Miss Christine.  There were definitely prayers answered for her to come to our Riverside.  I know that we prayed for someone good and we got just that!  Miss Katie was really good and will definitely be missed, but Miss Christine is fabulous!  We are super excited to get to know her better.  As far as Talen's new aide goes, that is another series of answered prayers.  As soon as I heard that Lisa would be leaving, I immediately thought that I should ask our friend Pat McIver to be his aide.  However, I didn't want to make her feel obligated or awkward if she didn't want the position.  I kinda beat around the bush in asking her, which lead to her thinking that I didn't want her.  Again, long story short, we finally got together and talked it all out.  She wanted the position, so I sent her down to the Principal for her interview and testing.  She is wonderful, so he obviously hired her!  So as Talen starts the 3rd grade today, we are so excited to see what fun this new year will bring.  And we are also so very thankful that our Heavenly Father has his watching eye on our sweet Talen and has his best interest at heart!

First Day of School - Kennedy 6th grade

Kennedy started 6th grade today, which means that she is not longer in elementary school.  She goes to Fossil Ridge Intermediate School now.  It is just so crazy to me that she is getting so old!!  We went to back to school night earlier in the week and found all her classes.  She has 6 different classes with 6 different teachers.  I asked her before she left for the bus (yes, she gets to ride the bus) if she was nervous.  She said that she was more nervous to ride the bus than she was about school.  I had to laugh because she gets on at the very last bus stop so she is literally on it for only 5 minutes before she gets to school.  But, this is her first time taking the bus, so I guess I can see the anticipation.  I must admit, watching her and her friends walk to the bus stop, I started to tear up.  Don't ask me why, but this was harder than sending her to Kindergarten!  Maybe because it means that she is just that much closer to becoming older and leaving us all together.  That will be a sad, sad day - let's not even think about that now!!  Good luck my big 6th grader!!
