June 2010

Talen started summer school on the 1st. Jay also decided to take classes during Summer semester, so our schedule hasn't changed much other than we have Kennedy at home full time now. I tried to keep her involved in things, so I signed her up for some community classes where they did arts and crafts. She really enjoyed them and they only cost me $1.50 each, SCORE!! We made our first visit to NACD (National Association for Child Development). We dropped Kennedy off at our good friend Nicole Price's house so that she could play with her kids while we went to the appointment. The doctor gave us an interesting perspective. He told Jay to squeeze Talen's arm/leg as hard as he could to see if Talen could feel it. Surprisingly, Talen didn't react at all (and Jay really was squeezing hard). The doctor said that if Talen's brain isn't telling him that his arm is getting hurt, how can it tell him to move it? I can't believe that we had never really heard this before. So, they set us up with a program that we have to do 4 times a day. It is a ton of work, but whatever we have to do to help Talen, I am up for the challenge!

LAGOON!!!

We decided that since we were headed up north (for more dr. apts.) that we would turn it into our Nalder family reunion. We left on Friday night after work and spent the night at Cory Rice's house. The next morning we got up early and met Grandma, Grandpa, Shad & Lanae & kids, and Cheyenne & Alex at Lagoon. We spent the day riding rides (and, of course, Lagoon-a-beach) and visiting. This was KiKi's first trip to Lagoon so we tried to make sure that it was all about her. She had a blast on every single ride and couldn't get enough of the water slides. She really surprised me when she went on the old white rickety roller coaster TWICE!!! Talen was also able to ride the train and carousel, which he completely loved!! I can tell that I am getting older because I pooped out quicker than I expected (although, so did all the other adults!) So, we stopped at Crown Burger and headed out to Holbrook where we spend the weekend. The only sad part is that Jeremy & Karma had already made other plans, so they weren't there.

Jack Frost

Talen has a new favorite movie. Don't ask me why Kennedy would want to watch "Jack Frost" in the middle of the summer, but she put it in and Talen couldn't stop laughing. Everytime the snowman comes on screen Talen can't contain himself. I wish I could have recorded him without him seeing me, but oh well!!
