October 2011

This month was busy, but then October always is.  Jay and I kept our birthdays pretty low-key.  On the 4th, Talen had an appointment with genetics (Dr. Longo).  The only thing that he really recommended was doing some more blood work to check crea-tine levels.  On the 27th, he had another appointment with Dr. Such-Neibar.  This was mostly just so that she could see if she felt that the hyperbaric chamber was showing any progress.  She didn't seem to think that there were really any changes at this point.  However, she encouraged us to continue taking him with the exception that we need to take much longer brakes (3 months or so.)  She said that for us to really see any progress we need to brake long enough that we will notice if there are any changes.  So, after this session, we are going to call it quits for a couple months (I really need the brake!!)  Daxton had his 6 month doctor appointment on the 24th.  He is 19 lbs. 6 ozs (the 80th percentile) and 26.5 inches long (53rd percentile).  He did so good with his shots too.  Only cried for a minute or two then was his happy little self again!! What a good boy!  He also cut his third tooth on the 30th.  It is the top right front one.

Halloween

This year, Kennedy wanted to be a Vampiress (I am so sad the days of picking a cute, innocent costume are gone.  Why do they have to grow up?).  Talen was an adorable puppy!!  But Jay was not happy.  He just kept saying "What 5 year old boy wants to be a puppy.  He wants to be a superhero!!"  Well, until he tells me otherwise, I am dressing him up how I want!! Daxton was a "chunky monkey."  Totally fit his personality (and body, hehehe).

We went over to the Brannon's for dinner with our usual clan.  Then it was out trick-or-treating with the kids.  What a good lookin' bunch we have!!  Just love these kids!!!

Halloween Parade

Riverside had their annual Halloween Parade this morning.  So, Dax, Talen, and I bundled up and went to the school to watch.  I was surprised at the variety of costumes.  There are certainly some creative kids (or parents) out there.  Anyway, the 1st graders made the first lap around the track, followed by the 2nd.  It was funny because all the parents would scream their kids name trying to get them to look so they could get their photo ops, but the kids were so focused on giving high-fives to the other kids that most of the parents got completely ignored! (I had to laugh!!)  Kennedy nearly missed me, but thankfully she was holding the hand of her classroom's student teacher and she told Kennedy to stop.  Afterwards, I walked down to where her class was sitting to get a picture of her with her teacher, Mrs. Hamilton.  The boys and I decided to skip out on watching the rest of the school make their way around the track so we left after I got all my pictures (but I really had already seen the best costume there anyway - our little Vampiress!!!)

We decided it is finally time to start Daxton on solid foods.  At first he didn't even seem to notice that he was eating anything new.  He just ate away for the first 10 or so bites.  Then, all the sudden, he realized that it was a new taste and did the "pooh face."  The hardest part about feeding Dax is trying to keep him from sticking his fingers in his mouth while your feeding him.  Silly boy!!

Daxton - 6 months

I took some of Daxton's 6 month pictures today.  I still want to take a couple outside, but for now, here they are.  (Thanks Robin for letting me invade your house!!  You are so sweet and such a great friend!!)

Pippi and the Penguin

So, Jay and I were invited to a Halloween Road Rally Party.  Dressing up was mandatory (which I loved because then Jay has to dress up with me - I love Halloween!!).  I went as Pippi Longstocking and Jay was a Penguin.  Everyone did so good on all their costumes (I am hoping to get a copy of some of the pictures that were taken there - but for now I just have the ones that Dacy snapped for me).  Once we got there, we visited with the other guests then had dinner.  After eating, we split up into 5 teams for the Road Rally.  I had never done this before but it was quite fun.  We were with the Memmott's and another couple (I can't recall their name right now).  Anyway, we were given clues to different locations around town.  Once we figured out where the clues were for, we had to drive there and pick up a little piece of paper that had already been distributed to each location (this was to prove that we had actually gone to the right place).  Each location was given a point value and after 1.5 hours we had to return back to the Vernon's house to see which team got the most points.  They most important rule was that each minute that we were late after the 1.5 hour mark they started deducting points.  Well, we didn't win, but we had a great time!  Thanks Anne for the invite!!!

 I decided it was time to be a good mom again and get Talen back in his stander.  Apparently he had had a longer day than I realized.  He did great for the first 20 minutes then I looked over and noticed he had fallen asleep standing up.  Poor tuckered out little boy!!!

Funny Faces

Don't ask me why, but Jay just loves to squish and squeeze our kids faces until they look silly beyond recognition.  Here is Daxton's first session.  (We were laughing so hard!!  And, Daxton didn't really seem to mind the torture! hehehe)

Kennedy's Baptism

Kennedy has turned 8 and decided to get baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She was baptized on October 8th.  Jay, Kennedy, and I went to the Prayer Meeting 20 minutes before the baptismal program began.  President Wilstead was presiding and Bro. Kyle Kimzey conducted.  The program went as follows:

Our ward was then excused to go to the baptismal font.  Kennedy was the only one in our ward getting baptized so everyone was there just for her (lucky girl)!  Jay baptized her and did a wonderful job!!  After she got changed back into her dress we went into another room where she was given her confirmation.  Those in the circle were:  Jay, Grandpa Dallan, Wes Vaughn, Justin Vaughn, Mike Seely, Cory Pulsipher, Michael Lambert, Mark Adams, John Brannon, Craig Caver, and Carl Wright.  Afterwards we took her out to eat at the Black Bear Restaurant.  All in all, it was a wonderful, spiritual night.  I am so proud of my sweet little girl. She is such an amazing daughter and great example to her little brothers.  I love her with all my heart!!  I don't know what I would do without my KiKi!!  I love you sweetie!!!

Chew Toy

This picture isn't the best because I took it with my phone, but the story is funny, so I just had to share!!  So, we were in Talen's room and I had put Daxton down on the floor while I fed Talen his bottle.  Daxton was rolling around a bit and I wasn't really paying attention to him, but then I heard this funny sucking sound.  I looked down where Dax had been and he was no longer there.  So I sat up a little and there was the little stinker, sucking on the leg of Talen's bed.  This little guy will put anything in his mouth!!  Silly little guy!!
