All Abilities Park

The city is putting in a new All Abilities Park, so they came to the preschools and special needs classrooms in the area and got handprints for decorations.  Here is Talen getting his hands printed.  So, Talen will officially have a spot over at the new park when it is complete.  (I didn't realize it at the time, but because Daxton was in Preschool, he got his hands printed too.)  I'll have to make sure to get pictures when the park is done and we go find them!!  How fun!!

Daxton starts gymnastics

For his birthday, we signed Daxton up for gymnastics.  He loved it!!  He is definitely the most flexible in his class and he loves to run around and play on all the equipment.  We have a little gymnast on our hands!!  (only had my camera on my phone, they were pretty far away, and I was shooting through a glass window, so the pictures are not good at all!!)

Daxton turns 5

How can my Daxi-boy be 5 already!!  It was just yesterday that I had him!!  He is such a good kid and I love him so much.  He is a little goof ball and will do anything to get you to laugh.  He has a personality like I have never seen before.  He will definitely be voted "class clown" in high school.  I am always a little nervous when I pick him up from school and his teachers tell me that they just love him because he is such a character.  He is the first to jump in and help around the house, the first get up in the morning (and he is absolutely a morning person), the first to say "I love you", the first to tease his little brother, and the first to spot a new baby and try to touch it.  He loves his friends, his school, but mostly his family.  He tells me several times a day how much he loves me (and I pray he never stops).  He has such a big heart and I see such big things for his future!  Love my 5 year old!

For his birthday, we had family over for doughnuts and milk.  He was spoiled with presents and loved smashing his pinata to bits.  For the last several weeks he has been talking about his birthday and every time I ask him what he wants he says, "a carbon fiber snowboard!"  (I am sure that he heard that on a cartoon somewhere!)  So when Brooke called to ask what he wanted I made him tell her - a carbon fiber snow board.  So, what did Brooke get him? Well, no, not a carbon fiber snow board, but the next best thing - a skim board (which we told him was a carbon fiber water board).  He LOVED it.  It'll probably be several years before he can use it, but he got (almost) exactly what he wanted.  He was in Heaven - thanks Brooke!!

Water Park on Tabernacle

The boys are always asking to go swimming, so while the big kids were at school, I decided to take them to the little water area/splash pad in the middle of town.  They absolutely LOVED it!!  I let them play for over an hour and I still had to drag them away.  We will definitely have to do stuff like this more often.

Missionary Week

I have always loved the idea of Missionary Week!  And now that Kennedy is in Young Women's, she gets to participate (and I do too since I'm back in YW, yay!)  The youth spend the whole week living the life of a missionary - no tv, no phones, no social media, only uplifting music, etc.  At the end of the week, they go to a member's home and give the first discussion.  It was fabulous!  I asked Kennedy to write a little bit about Missionary Week, so here are her thoughts on it all:

Missionary Week is where you don’t use technology at all, and where you read scriptures every night and morning, and where you cannot listen to music other than hymns. You also had to dress up in Sunday best to school on Tuesday. I really liked it, I liked how you couldn’t get on any technology and it helped me connect with others easier. I have started reading scriptures with my family more often. It was also a challenge because I had to tell a lot of teachers to stop playing music and explain why we are wearing dress clothes. I liked how we got to actually eat dinner with a family in the ward and teach them about eternal life, at first it was scary but that feeling soon went away. The family we went to teach was really nice and kind. I am glad that we got to have that experience so that when we have to choose the choice will be easier to make. It was a really fun experience and I am looking forward to do it next time.

Flying Kites

It was a windy day, so Jay decided to take the kids to the store to pick out some kites.  (Of course, Jay had to get one for himself too - still a kid at heart!)  While Holly was bathing Talen, we decided to head down to the school to fly them.  No surprise that as soon as they were set up and ready to fly, the wind stopped.  We got a couple good gusts - enough to get a good picture or two, but that was about it.  Oh well, it got the kids out of the house for a little bit and it was some good times spend together as a family (minus Talen of course!).

Holding Hands

This little boy just loves holding hands.  He always has - even when we was just little.  I never want to forget that he loved to hold my hand.  We will be in the car and I will hear him say, "Mom, hol my han"  No matter how uncomfortable it is stretching from the front seat to the row behind us, I will gladly do it.  Please don't ever stop, my cute little Carter Sauce!  I sure love this boy!!
