FEBRUARY 2018

Kennedy had a follow-up appointment with her orthodontist on the 2nd.  They said that things are looking good and sent her on her way.

On the 6th, Kennedy had a dentist appointment where she had 3 cavities filled.  She was so annoyed.  She had never had a single cavity in her life up to this point, but as soon as they took off the braces, we found out that she had 5.  They numbed up the one side and filled 3.

On the 13th, we took Kennedy back to the dentist to have the other 2 cavities filled on the other side.  The first time, they numbed her up so good she didn't feel anything.  This time however, she said she totally felt the needle and hated every second of it.  Hopefully these will be the only cavites she ever has to experience - fingers crossed!

On the 15, Jay and I were able to go watch Kaylyn go through the temple for the first time.  It was a packed session, so it took a while, but any time going to the temple is time well spent.  Huge thanks to Cathy for watching the boys so that we could go.

At the beginning of the month we officially pulled Talen out of school and switch him to homeschool.  All this really means is that now Pat will be able to come work for a couple hours a week with Talen here in our home.  We decided that it would be best to have her come Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 12:30-2.  This way I can get Carter to school without having to make Jay or Cathy run home to watch Talen.  I also made arrangements with another mom of one of Carter's classmates to give him a ride home from school.  It is amazing how things work out and people are so willing to help out in our time of need.  Anyway, we are hoping that the flu season will be over after spring break and we will be able to send Talen back to school, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Carter in speech

Carter should have been put in speech last year, but better late than never I guess.  So I take him down to the preschool once a week to work on speech with Miss Marilyn.  She is fantastic.  She does such a good job with him and I can't believe how far he has progressed in such a short amount of time.  I tried not to interrupt, but I wanted to document all the hard work that Carter has been doing, so here are some quick little pics of Carter doing speech with his buddy, Miss Marilyn.

Daxton's SOAR book

At the school there is a program called SOAR.  They take the kids that are a little more advanced than the other students in their same grade level and have them do some activities/exercises that challenge them a little more so that they aren't bored.  Well, his SOAR class got together and wrote this cute little book.  They included all the kids in the class into the story and they each got to illustrate their own book.  What a little smarty pants we have!!

Carter Sauce

Carter is so cute!  For no reason at all, he will randomly come up to me and ask me to take his picture.  He will then look at the picture I have taken, smile, and walk away.  Not sure what he is thinking, but I don't have the heart to delete these adorable photos.  So, I may as well document what a cute boy I have!!

Isn't it nice that we have someone who is always willing to listen when you have to read your leveled library books?  What good kids I have!.

SUVA 14's Tournament #2

This tournament was AWESOME!!  I can't believe what a good little setter Kennedy is turning into.  I'll admit, when she first started, I questioned her ability to make it onto a high school team, but after these last two years, I have no doubt that she will make the team!  This tourament was at the same location as the last one (which sucked) but thankfully we were on a different court so it wasn't as near as bad as last time.  In fact, they closed down the court that we played on last time because it was such a terrible area for spectators and the players!  Anyway, the first team that her team played, was the same team that they played at the last tournament that they took to three matches.  And, like usually, they took the first 10 minutes or so to finally decide to play, which gave the other team a 0-7 lead!  They caught up and were tied 18-18.   After that it was back and forth until they ended up loosing the first match 24-26.  Match 2 was much better.  They took off running and the other team never had a chance to catch up, winning 25-12.  Match 3 was just like the second, we won 15-5.  Kennedy did fantastic on her serves.  She served the last 6 or so points.  She even made a dive for the ball, saving it for her team, but I'm sure that will result in a huge bruise on her hip.  You do what you have to to win, right?!?  Game 1 win - check!  Game 2 started immediately after game 1, which was fantastic for them because it didn't give them a chance to cool down.  They won the first match 25-11.  Now, I have no idea what happened during match 2.  It looked like they were practicing more than they were playing.  It was like they just stopped playing.  They were having fun, and they could have totally creamed the other team, but I guess they just wanted to play a third game because they lost 19-25.  Match 3 was much better, but it still didn't look like they were playing their hardest, but they won 15-10.  Game 2 win - check!  They had to sit out while two other teams played, so I was a little nervous when they started game 3.  This was by far the better of the three teams that they played, but still not as good as Kennedy's team was.  In fact, I was sitting next to the parents of a girl on the other team and she said that Kennedy's team was so much better than the other teams that they needed to be in a better league. (Which was kinda ironic because after the tournament was over, Kennedy told me that the person over the tournament came up to her coach to see if she wanted to move her team in to the A league - apparently we have been in the B league.  She is considering it.)  Anyway, match one of game three started out a little rough again.  The other team had the lead until halfway through the game.  Then we kicked it up and stole the lead.  Towards the end it was tied 23-23.  It was so nervewracking because we went back and forth until we finally won match one at 28-26.  Match 2 was just as good.  Back and forth until we tied it up again at 18-18.  At that point, the girls rallied and took the win 25-19.  It was such a fun tournament.  I am so proud of Kennedy and what a good player she is becoming.  You could totally tell that her and Macy have played together before.  Those two together are a force to be reckoned with.  Great Job KiKi!!  I love that you love this game!!!

Garbage Day

Jay has been working late on the homeshow, so I was in charge of making sure that the garbage cans made it out to the street.  So, I gathered my little helpers and taught them to put the cans out.  They loved it.  I am sure their enthusaism for this will change as it is sure to become their jobs sooner or later.  What good little helpers I have!!
