Yes, Virginia!!

Several months ago, Principal Staheli applied for a $1000 grant that Macy's was giving out for schools to put on the productions of the play "Yes, Virginia."  Of all the schools that applied, Macy's only picked 100 schools nationwide to received the grant - and Riverside was one of the 100!!  So, when try-outs came, Kennedy was so excited!!  She got the part of city dweller, news kid, and Father Christmas.  They held practices before and after school for the last couple months leading up to it.  The kids worked so hard, and when it came performance time, you could tell.  They had 3 performances, three different nights.  Brigham's Playhouse was kind enough to allow it to be put on in their theater.  I took Daxton the first night.  He loved it and I was shocked at what a good job the kids did!!  It was so professional!!  The next night, Jay and I went and left the boys with Cathy.  Jay was just as impressed as I was.  Afterwards, we took Kennedy out to eat - her choice of restaurant of course!!  The last night I helped backstage.  It was fun to see it from a different point of view and help the kids with their costume changes and such!!  I cannot express how proud I am of KiKi!  She did such a fantastic job.  I think we have an actress on our hands.  She loved every minute of it and I am so grateful to the school and the Olsen's for helping make it such a huge success!  Fabulous job KiKi!!  We love you!!!

Kennedy plays basketball

We started Kennedy up in city league basketball again.  Her first game was awesome!!  I was so shocked at how good and aggressive she was.  It was like she was a whole new kid!  She even scored 12 points for her team.  That is more points that she has scored in all her previous years of playing basketball combined!! Keep it up KiKi!!

Ward Christmas Party

We had our Ward Christmas party tonight and the highlight was getting pictures taken with Santa.  Carter didn't want anything to do with him and we couldn't pry him out of my arms to be in the picture!
Kennedy ran around most of the night playing with her friends (Trinity Smith & Stella Rose).  So, the decided to get their own picture with Santa.  And, of course, they had their little shadow (Daxy) with them!

Stubborn Dax

So the other day Daxton came home from school and I asked him if he was a helper.  He said that he was the "Line Leader."  But, Daxton can't say his L's very well, so it sounded more like Yine-Yeader.  Well, Jay decided to try to help him say it correctly.  Jay would say, "Llllll-ine, Llllllleader" to try to get the L sound instead of the Y sound.  Well, Dax was having none of this!  He said that saying "Lllline Lllleader" was the wrong way to say it.  He was very adamant that he was right and we were both wrong! (I don't know how I got involved, I was just sitting at the table, but apparently I was wrong too!)  It was so funny because he was so serious about it.  A couple minutes into it, I decided to pull out my camera phone and see if I could capture this little interaction.  I did, but sadly, I can't figure out how to make it shorter or I'd upload it.  Let's just say it is hilarious!!  And the funniest part is about 30 minutes afterwards, he casually comes up to me and says, "You are right, it's line leader!"  What a silly kid!!
